Accountant

Azure Hotel & Suites is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to manage the hotel's day-to-day financial operations. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting experience and proficiency in Sage Accounting or related accounting software to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and efficient cash flow management.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records for the hotel, including revenue, expenses, and daily cash reconciliations
• Prepare and post journal entries, manage the general ledger, and perform monthly bank reconciliations
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments to vendors and collections from clients
• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports (revenue reports, occupancy vs. revenue analysis, expense tracking)
• Prepare monthly management accounts, profit & loss statements, and balance sheets
• Manage payroll processing in coordination with HR
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations (VAT, WHT, PAYE) and statutory remittances
• Conduct periodic audits of front office cash handling, F&B revenue, and other departmental transactions
• Monitor and control hotel operating costs and flag budget variances
• Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies as required
• Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers and inventory records
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum of 2–3 years' accounting experience, preferably within the hospitality/hotel industry
• Proficiency in Sage Accounting software is required
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Sound understanding of Nigerian tax laws and statutory compliance requirements
• High level of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
