About this role
Reliance Health is seeking a full-time, remote Finance Associate based in Lagos, Nigeria. The primary focus of this role is to support the company's financial operations, reporting processes, and transaction workflows. As an analytical and detail-oriented professional, you will be responsible for handling invoice and payment processing, performing complex bank and intercompany reconciliations, and assisting with month-end and year-end close activities. This position plays a critical part in maintaining strict internal controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks like GAAP or IFRS, and driving operational efficiency across the organization's emerging market healthcare networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and payment requests accurately while executing payment runs in alignment with company policies and cash flow schedules.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations, review credit card transactions, and resolve discrepancies across intercompany accounts, premium collections, claims payments, and provider settlements.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports—including balance sheets and income statements—by processing journal entries, tracking accruals, and compiling supporting schedules.
- Maintain accurate financial records, documentation, and data entries within accounting repositories to support tax filings, internal reviews, and statutory compliance.
- Support internal and external audit operations by assembling requested documentation and providing clear explanations to auditing teams.
- Flag unusual transactions or policy violations to senior finance team members while answering internal inquiries regarding payment statuses, invoices, and account balances.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Must have completed NYSC or possess a valid exemption letter.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in accounting, finance, or a similar corporate role.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, specifically featuring capabilities in formulas, pivot tables, vlookups, and advanced data manipulation.
- Solid basic understanding of general accounting principles, financial reporting, and the core components of the financial close process.
- High attention to detail with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines independently within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience in healthcare, insurance, or fintech, familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite), exposure to claims/premium reconciliations, or progress toward ICAN/ACCA certifications is highly advantageous.
