Accounting Trainee Programme

Sundry Markets is seeking analytical and enthusiastic young professionals for its full-time Accounting Trainee Programme to operate as Cash Officers across multiple locations in Nigeria, including Abuja, Port Harcourt, Eleme, Lekki (Lagos), Benin, Mowe, Ibadan, Onitsha, Warri, and Akure. This entry-level position is designed to integrate recent graduates into the core financial and retail accounting operations of a major supermarket chain. Under the guidance of senior finance professionals, trainees will manage transactional data, maintain internal compliance standards, and support accounting workflows to drive the organization's regional financial success.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records by recording daily cash and operational transactions with proper documentation.
• Support the end-to-end accounts payable and accounts receivable processing cycles, including invoice verification and payment runs.
• Perform regular account reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and resolve financial discrepancies promptly.
• Assist the finance team in compiling schedules and data required for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements or analyses.
• Support both internal and external audit procedures by maintaining structured, compliant financial files and evidence repositories.
• Collaborate with cross-functional branch departments to gather transaction information and provide basic financial insights for operational decision-making.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Maximum age of 30 years at the time of application. National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) completion certificate or a valid exemption letter is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic familiarity with accounting software platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills with a high commitment to numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
