Junior Fiber Backhaul Engineer

Hoop Telecoms is seeking a full-time Junior Fiber Backhaul Engineer in Lagos. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the physical and logical integrity of the fiber network that connects core sites to distribution nodes. Working closely with senior engineering teams, you will support expansion projects, assist with fiber network deployments, and actively monitor infrastructure to maintain reliable network connectivity.

• Support the installation and routine maintenance of fiber optic cabling and associated distribution infrastructure.
• Utilize testing tools like Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (OTDR) to identify, locate, and troubleshoot fiber breaks or signal degradation.
• Assist with fiber splicing, site preparation, and infrastructure documentation for new network expansion projects.
• Monitor environmental factors at remote sites that could impact optical fiber performance and network reliability.

• Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline.
• Familiarity with the practical usage of fiber splicers and OTDR work tools.
• Basic knowledge of fiber optic network architecture and backhaul connectivity.
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills and attention to detail when documenting field infrastructure.
