Data Science & AI Manager

About the Role

Zion Tech Hub is seeking an experienced Data Science & AI Manager to lead data science, AI, and advanced analytics initiatives across programmes. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for a data professional who combines strong technical expertise with analytical thinking, sound judgement, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. Hybrid role based in Abuja, Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead data science and AI initiatives, including predictive analytics and AI-enabled solutions
• Build and oversee data pipelines, models, and analytics across complex, multi-source datasets
• Conduct statistical and machine learning analyses to generate actionable insights
• Develop decision-focused dashboards using Power BI or Tableau
• Lead, mentor, and develop data scientists and data engineers
• Partner with programme teams to translate data into practical recommendations and decisions
• Provide technical input into proposals, partnerships, and data-driven solutions
• Support responsible AI, data governance, data quality, and security standards
• Present technical findings clearly to senior management, clients, funders, and other stakeholders

Requirements

• 6-8 years' experience in Data Science, Data Engineering, AI/ML, or Applied Analytics
• Advanced SQL and strong Python skills
• Proven experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, and predictive modelling
• Proficiency in Power BI or Tableau and advanced Excel
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure or AWS
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently interrogate and interpret data
• Experience leading or mentoring technical teams
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical insights for non-technical audiences
• A postgraduate qualification in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field is preferred
• Experience in digital health, public health, development, responsible AI, health systems data, or emerging markets is an added advantage

Compensation

NGN 1,000,000 - 2,000,000 monthly, open to negotiation based on experience.

Location

Hybrid in Abuja, Abuja Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria. Full-time.
