Creative Assistant

StyledByLayo, a womenswear fashion brand known for bespoke, high-end designs, is hiring a Creative Assistant to support the Creative Director and the Design and Production Team in developing and executing bespoke designs, ensuring the creative vision is properly translated and followed through during production

Salary: NGN 200,000 - 250,000

Key Responsibilities

Creative and Design Support

• Lead the Design Team with the development and execution of bespoke designs
• Lead the preparation of design concepts, references, pencil and digital sketches, mood boards and visual materials where required
• Research fashion trends, silhouettes, fabrics, embellishment techniques, colour combinations and design references
• Assist with the development of creative ideas for bespoke client projects and brand collections

Client Design and Order Support

• Support the Creative Director during client consultations and design discussions where required
• Take accurate notes on client preferences, design requirements, colours, fabrics, embellishments, silhouettes and other specifications
• Ensure client design details are properly documented
• Confirm that approved design details are communicated accurately to the Production Manager
• Assist in tracking changes to client designs throughout the production process

Production Coordination and Creative Follow-Through

• Work closely with the Production Manager to ensure creative specifications are correctly executed
• Provide clarification on design details when required
• Monitor production progress from a creative and design perspective
• Conduct regular checks to ensure the design being produced remains consistent with the approved concept
• Flag deviations from approved designs to the Creative Director and Production Manager
• Resolve creative or design-related production challenges

Fabric, Colour and Embellishment Coordination

• Assist in sourcing and reviewing fabrics, trims, beads, embellishments, linings and other design materials
• Support the Creative Director in selecting suitable materials for specific designs
• Ensure colours and materials are accurately identified and communicated
• Assist with creating and maintaining colour references where required
• Support the selection and arrangement of embellishment patterns and details

Required Skills

• Strong fashion and design knowledge
• Digital and manual fashion illustration skills (very important)
• Excellent creative and visual thinking skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Good understanding of garment construction and production
• Ability to interpret and communicate design concepts

Qualifications

• Degree, diploma or relevant training in Fashion Design, Fashion Production, Textile Design or a related field
• Proximity to Lekki is necessary
• 1-3 years of experience in a fashion or design environment is preferred
• Experience in bespoke fashion, couture, luxury fashion or garment production is an advantage
• Proficiency in relevant design and productivity tools is an advantage
• A strong portfolio or demonstrated creative ability may be considered alongside formal qualifications
