Netzence is a Nigerian technology company building FinTech and sustainability platforms, including the KlimateRide smart ride-hailing and delivery platform. Netzence is hiring a Software Engineer (Back-end) to join its team in Nigeria. FinTech experience is mandatory for this role

Job Summary

The Software Engineer (Back-end) develops backend applications, integration services and APIs, and writes unit and integration tests for high-performance FinTech platforms that support Netzence's digital products and services. Backend code must follow the approved solutions architecture and coding standards and guidelines such as CERT

Key Responsibilities

• Work with the project team to understand product requirements, product architecture, interfaces and integrations
• Develop internet and distributed software solutions and direct technical aspects of operations related to client accounts or high-severity issues
• Ensure robust and sustainable architecture by monitoring SOA metrics and fixing bugs logged by customers
• Participate in solution workshops, write technical documentation and engage in continuous delivery and DevOps
• Contribute to company-level software best practices, standards and policies
• Work closely with other developers and the Business Analyst team to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction
• Collaborate with product owners, technical architects and other developers to plan, design, develop, test and maintain web and mobile applications
• Liaise with network administrators, systems analysts and software engineers to resolve problems with software products or company systems
• Manage and guide junior software developers and research assistants

Qualifications and Requirements

• BSc in Computer Science, Information Technology or another directly relevant degree
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in enterprise software development
• Certified in at least one industry-standard certification
• Good knowledge of one or more programming languages and technologies, including Java (Spring, Java EE), Kotlin, Python and Git
• Experience with functional programming languages is an added advantage; a good understanding of other object-oriented languages will also be considered
• Experience with web frameworks including PHP Yii/Symfony is an added advantage
• Very good understanding of one or more relational database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL Server, Oracle) and/or NoSQL databases
• Significant contribution to one or more solutions in use by customers
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
• Ability to work effectively in an Agile software development environment
• Test Driven Development, CI/CD and other automated testing skills
• Working knowledge of version control systems such as GitHub or Bitbucket
• Experience using JIRA and Confluence
• Great attention to detail
