About this role
Dangote Cement Transport (DCT), a major subsidiary of Dangote Industries Limited, is recruiting an experienced Safety Officer to oversee Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards at its plant and fleet operations in Ibese, Ogun State.
This full-time position is responsible for preventing workplace hazards and road incidents through routine safety audits, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) process safety checks, incident investigations, driver fatigue assessments, and strict HSE regulatory compliance.

Safety Audits & Compliance: Monitor and enforce compliance with company HSE policies, statutory requirements, and regulatory frameworks across facilities, loading bays, and fleet operational sites.

Transport & Fleet Risk Management: Oversee driver fitness-for-duty evaluations, monitor work-rest/fatigue schedules, enforce defensive driving protocols, and supervise safe loading/offloading activities.

CNG & Process Safety: Conduct safety checks on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) operational procedures, process safety controls, and facility emergency response systems.

Incident Investigation & Mitigation: Lead Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, near-miss logging, emergency response drills, and formal investigations of workplace or road accidents.

HSE Recordkeeping & Training: Deliver daily toolbox talks and safety inductions; maintain complete HSE documentation for internal audits, contractor monitoring, and regulatory inspections.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on HSE experience in transportation, fleet operations, manufacturing, oil & gas, or CNG/LPG facilities.

Professional Certifications:

Preferred: NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC).

Required / Desired: IOSH Managing Safely, ISPON (Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria) membership, and HSE Levels I, II & III certifications.

Advantageous: Specialized certifications in Fire Safety, Defensive Driving, Incident Investigation, or CNG Operations Safety.
