Java Software Engineer

Crown Interactive—an international technology and service aggregation provider delivering BSS and order-to-cash enterprise software platforms—is recruiting a Java Software Engineer for its office in Lagos State. This senior backend role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing scalable enterprise applications using Java 8+, Spring Boot, Microservices, and REST APIs, with a specific emphasis on software solutions for energy, power distribution, metering, or utility billing systems.

• Backend Application Development: Architect, develop, and maintain high-throughput backend services using Java 8+, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.

• RESTful API & Database Engineering: Design and consume REST APIs; map domain models and optimize database queries/interactions using Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, and MySQL.

• Utility & Power System Solutions: Implement business logic supporting software solutions for power distribution, smart metering, or energy billing platforms.

• Code Quality & Testing: Write clean, documented code and perform unit and integration testing utilizing JUnit and Mockito.

• DevOps & Infrastructure Alignment: Debug production defects and collaborate with DevOps, QA, and frontend teams for deployments in Linux environments using Docker, Maven/Gradle, and Tomcat/Undertow servers.

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Core Experience: 7+ years of hands-on Java backend engineering experience, with demonstrated mastery of Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Data JPA.

• Domain Expertise: Preferred/proven background delivering software solutions for the energy, power, or utilities sectors (e.g., smart metering, power distribution, energy billing).

• Technical Stack:

  • Languages: Java (primary), with secondary familiarity in C#, Python, or JavaScript (Node.js/React/Angular).

  • Architecture & Security: Microservices, REST API design, JWT/OAuth2 authentication, logging, and application performance tuning.

  • Tools & OS: MySQL, Maven/Gradle, Docker, Linux, JUnit, Mockito, Undertow, Tomcat.

• Methodology: Agile development, cross-functional collaboration, and peer code reviews.
