Java Software Engineer

Bluechip Technologies—a business application and data solutions firm—is recruiting a Java & C# Software Engineer for its Product and Application Service Engineering team in Lagos State. This hybrid contract position requires an experienced engineer capable of designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-grade applications and system integrations for clients across banking, telecommunications, oil & gas, and the public sector using Java (Spring Boot) and/or C# (.NET Core).

• Enterprise Backend Engineering: Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise software modules using Java (Spring Boot) and/or C#.

• API Development & Integration: Build, consume, secure, and document RESTful APIs and middleware integrations utilizing OAuth2 and JWT authentication.

• Database & Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, unit-tested code; perform SQL database optimization across PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MS SQL Server; and execute peer code reviews.

• Lifecycle Ownership & Mentorship: Take end-to-end ownership of software modules from initial design to production support, providing technical mentorship to junior developers.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Solution Architects, DevOps engineers, QA teams, and client stakeholders to deliver scalable enterprise solutions.

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience: Minimum 4 years of professional backend engineering experience using Java (Spring Boot) and/or C# —proficiency in both is a strong advantage.

• Database Mastery: Strong SQL skills working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Oracle.

• Version Control & Methodology: Proficiency in Git workflows (branching strategies, PRs) and experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

• Desirable Skills:

  • Integration & Messaging: Apache Kafka, ActiveMQ, Apache Camel, or WSO2.

  • Containerization & CI/CD: Docker, Kubernetes, and automated deployment pipelines.

  • Frontend Frameworks: Basic experience with React, Next.js, or Angular.

  • Industry Exposure: Prior experience in Banking, Telecoms, Public Sector, or Oil & Gas environments.
