About this role
Proten International—an international human resource and management consulting firm—is recruiting a BSS Engineer on behalf of a major telecommunications infrastructure provider in Abuja (FCT). Reporting to the Network Operations Center (NOC) Lead and Field Operations Manager, this engineering role manages the configuration, integration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of Huawei Base Station Subsystem (BSS) equipment and microwave transmission networks across the Federal Capital Territory.
Key Responsibilities-
BSS & eNodeB Integration: Configure, commission, integrate, and troubleshoot Huawei eNodeB 3900 series cellular equipment to maintain LTE/UMTS network availability.

Microwave Transmission Maintenance: Install, configure, and align Huawei RTN 900 series microwave links (905, 910, 950, 950A); diagnose transmission fades, perform link budget checks, and clear system alarms.

Network Fault Clearance & NOC Escalations: Monitor alarm logs, execute daily health checks, resolve network outages within agreed SLA timelines, and prepare corrective outage reports.

Field Team Leadership & Safety Standards: Supervise field riggers, technicians, and contractors during site upgrades; ensure all tower activities comply with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) regulations.

Academic Credentials: B.Sc. or HND in Telecoms, Electrical/Electronics, or Computer Engineering.

Technical Mastery: In-depth knowledge of GSM/LTE wireless architectures, microwave propagation, antenna alignment, and alarm clearing procedures.

Core Competencies: Huawei RTN/eNodeB equipment configuration, field rigger coordination, network availability monitoring, HSE compliance, and rapid outage troubleshooting.
