Head of Public Sector, South South

Wema Bank is hiring a Head of Public Sector for its South-South/Mid-West region, based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The role provides strategic leadership for public-sector banking growth, overseeing deposit mobilisation, government relationship management, revenue optimisation and risk management

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead deposit growth and liquidity acquisition from state and local governments, ministries, agencies, parastatals and public institutions
• Develop strategies to grow public-sector deposits, aligned with the broader corporate growth directive
• Drive onboarding of new public-sector clients and deepen existing government wallet share
• Identify and segment opportunities across state MDAs, local government councils, educational institutions, judicial & security institutions, water boards, transport agencies and state-owned enterprises
• Leverage the Bank's digital and corporate banking capabilities to deliver tailored solutions in cash management, collections, TSA-compliant systems, payroll, trade services and project financing
• Develop relationships with all tiers of government

Requirements:

• Strong stakeholder management and deep public-sector ecosystem knowledge
• Expertise in structuring financial solutions (cash management, collections, TSA, payroll, trade services, project financing)
• Proven ability to lead public-sector business expansion in a competitive environment
