Senior Backend Engineer (Java)

Moniepoint is a financial technology company delivering payment, banking, credit and business management products.

The Senior Backend Engineer will build reliable, scalable backend services and collaborate with product, design and quality teams on high-impact features.

• Architect and build backend services with Java and Spring Boot.
• Collaborate with Product, Design and QA on feature delivery.
• Produce maintainable, documented and testable code.
• Integrate third-party services and APIs with resilient error handling.
• Improve system performance and developer experience through automation and refactoring.
• Diagnose complex issues and drive technical improvements.
• Contribute to code reviews and architecture discussions.
• Document technical decisions, systems and processes.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Five or more years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing scalable web services, RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
• Working knowledge of Agile development and CI/CD.
• Strong relational database and ORM experience.
• Exposure to AngularJS or React is a plus.
• Excellent debugging, communication and collaboration skills.
