Senior Credit Underwriter

Moniepoint is a financial technology company providing payment, banking, credit and business management services.

The Senior Credit Underwriter will manually underwrite SME, mid-corporate and large-corporate lending applications while balancing risk appetite, portfolio performance and business growth.

• Apply best practices across the end-to-end underwriting process.
• Prepare credit approval memos for senior management and risk committees.
• Review applications through financial analysis and business modelling.
• Conduct stress testing and due diligence for large-ticket lending.
• Monitor sector portfolio health and perform credit reviews.
• Improve the underwriting framework and strategy.
• Work with business stakeholders to mature credit risk practices.
• Review credit data for risk initiatives and pilots.
• Conduct periodic reviews of bad debts.

• Significant experience underwriting SME and large-corporate loans in Nigeria.
• Experience underwriting loans up to NGN 5 billion.
• Expertise assessing financials, audited accounts and bank statements.
• Knowledge of industry, macroeconomic and regulatory factors.
• Experience assessing collateral and covenants.
• Strong awareness of Nigerian compliance and regulation.
• Demonstrable underwriting best-practice experience.
• Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
• High ethical and professional standards.
