About the Role
A solar energy company is hiring a Junior Finance Officer in Lagos, Nigeria to support the Finance team with day-to-day accounting operations. The role reports to the Finance Manager and suits a detail-oriented candidate who can help keep financial records accurate, process transactions, support compliance, and keep renewable-energy project finances running smoothly. Full-time, onsite.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Transactions and Record Keeping
- Process invoices, receipts, payments, and expense claims accurately and on time.
- Post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Reconcile bank statements and supplier/customer accounts.
Operational Support (Solar Projects)
- Track project-related expenses for solar installations and maintenance projects.
- Support cost allocation for equipment procurement (panels, inverters, batteries, and related items).
- Assist in monitoring budgets for solar projects and flag variances.
- Maintain financial documentation for energy contracts and client agreements.
Reporting and Compliance
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Support statutory compliance, tax filings, and audit preparations.
- Ensure proper filing and documentation of financial records.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
Administrative Support
- Maintain vendor and customer records.
- Assist with payroll data preparation when required.
- Support internal and external audit processes.
- Perform other finance-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of relevant accounting experience (energy, construction, or solar industry experience is an advantage).
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (for example QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or similar).
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Location
Lagos, Nigeria (onsite). Reports to Finance Manager.
