Experienced Machinery Engineer

ExxonMobil is hiring an Experienced Machinery Engineer based in Lagos, Nigeria, supporting reliability and availability of machinery systems on FPSOs for Nigeria deepwater assets. The role provides engineering support in machinery, instrumentation, and controls.

About the Role

Machinery engineers contribute across asset development and operation, safeguarding reliability and availability of production machinery on the FPSOs and supporting Nigeria deepwater assets.

Location

Lagos, Nigeria (onsite). Full-time.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand the condition of production machinery and improvement opportunities; perform daily reviews of equipment performance
• Identify potential risks and steward activities required to meet machinery reliability and availability targets
• Support maintenance programs, monitor equipment performance, recommend improvements, and ensure standards are met
• Work with partners and contractors on projects and assets
• Support project development for growth opportunities and operations of producing assets so machinery performance meets or exceeds targets
• Document completed efforts so others can reuse the work
• Identify opportunities to improve work processes, including upgrades, replacements, automation, digitalization, and new technologies
• Interface with partners, regulators, contractors, and other functions to coordinate machinery maintenance/repair programs and reliability targets
• Participate in brownfield verifications, specification reviews and updates, engineering surveillance (QA/QC), specialized studies, risk assessments, design reviews, and constructability reviews
• Provide technical lead support for equipment troubleshooting and recovery, including root cause analysis for complex failures
• Communicate clearly and timely to asset leadership on equipment issues, exposures, and opportunities

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science / Engineering in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Aerospace, Biomedical, Environmental, Computer, Industrial, Structural, Materials, Marine, Automobile, Petroleum, Nuclear, Geological, or Engineering Technology
• NYSC Completion Certificate
• Minimum of 5 years relevant oil and gas industry experience
• Minimum of 5 years mechanical engineering focused on machinery
• Knowledge of turbo machinery, machinery controls and protection systems, material selection, machinery monitoring, surveillance, optimization, commissioning and start-up, vibration/pulsation/noise analysis, troubleshooting, risk assessment, and reliability investigation
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong teamwork, communication, coordination, technical, problem-solving, and analytical skills
