About this role
IOTA Group, a premier International Independent Energy Consultant Services Firm established in 1982, is recruiting a full-time Diver. Based out of the coastal operational sectors in Lagos, Nigeria, this specialized marine engineering position sits within the Subsea Construction and Offshore Infrastructure Support division.
The commercial Diver will perform high-risk, technically demanding underwater operations to build, inspect, and maintain vital maritime assets, including offshore platforms, subsea pipelines, bridge foundations, ports, and jetties. Blending industrial commercial diving expertise with heavy structural trade skills like underwater welding, wet cutting, and rigging, this role is designed for certified divers who can execute complex construction briefs safely in low-visibility, high-current environments.
Key Responsibilities-
Subsea Construction & Assembly: Erect and secure underwater foundations, piers, seawalls, concrete forms, and structural steel beams from marine barges and temporary platforms.
-
Pipeline & Structural Installation: Position, alignment-test, and lock down complex subsea pipeline networks and offshore infrastructure elements.
-
Underwater Wet Welding & Thermal Cutting: Join or dissect heavy metal underwater structures using specialized underwater welding equipment and hyperbaric cutting gear.
-
Rigging & Heavy Lifting Support: Attach deep-water rigging lines, secure heavy-duty cables, and guide surface-crane operators when lowering bulk structural assets to the seabed.
-
Structural Inspection & Asset Integrity: Perform regular dive sweeps to audit underwater structures for rust, alignment slips, or stress fractures, feeding structural data back to engineering panels.
-
Civil Survey Operations: Assist project engineering teams with bathymetric mapping, seabed measurements, and physical site assessments before construction cycles begin.
-
Dive Systems Compliance: Command surface-supplied diving systems, shallow air diving gear, and saturation equipment profiles in strict compliance with safety laws.
-
Education & Certification: Formal, internationally recognized graduation certificate from an accredited Commercial Diving School (e.g., IMCA, ADCI, or equivalent global standards).
-
Industrial Trade Skills: Proven proficiency in maritime construction trades, specifically including wet welding, commercial carpentry, heavy rigging, and concrete placement.
-
Technical Blueprint Literacy: Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and translate basic maritime construction blueprints and subsea engineering diagrams into tactical dive plans.
-
Physical & Mental Resilience: Elite physical fitness, high cardiovascular stamina, and the psychological stability required to perform complex tasks under high pressure, low visibility, and strong tidal currents.
-
Operational Safety Mastery: Deep understanding of commercial hyperbaric safety protocols, emergency gas management, and underwater audio/hand communication systems.
