Relationship/Underwriting Officer

Voedsel Capital Limited is recruiting a full-time Relationship/Underwriting Officer for its insurance brokerage operations in Abuja.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwriting & Risk Assessment: Evaluate client risk profiles, review proposal forms, negotiate competitive quotes/terms with insurance companies, and issue policy documents, cover notes, and endorsements.

• Client Relationship Management: Act as the primary contact for assigned clients, manage policy renewals ahead of expiration, address inquiries, and identify cross-selling opportunities.

• Claims Support & Liaison: Support the claims management process by liaising between clients, underwriters, and loss adjusters to ensure prompt and fair settlements.

• Compliance & Portfolio Reporting: Maintain detailed client policy records, ensure full regulatory compliance, and prepare periodic portfolio performance and renewal reports.

• Degree: BSc / HND in Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline.

• Experience: Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in underwriting, relationship management, or client servicing within an insurance brokerage or underwriting firm.

• Professional Certification: Affiliation or progress with the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) or equivalent is an added advantage.

• Sound understanding of insurance products (life, health, property, motor, marine, corporate) and underwriting principles.

• Good working knowledge of Nigerian insurance laws, regulations, and market trends.

• Excellent negotiation, client-servicing, analytical, and documentation skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
