Software Engineering Team Lead

M-KOPA Nigeria, a leading FinTech company providing connected asset financing and pay-as-you-go financial services across Africa, is recruiting a Software Engineering Team Lead. This remote role will spearhead the architecture and delivery of new loan origination systems, compliance infrastructure, and pricing platforms powering financial inclusion for millions of underbanked customers across the continent.

• Location: Lagos (Remote)

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Coaching: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend engineers following a servant leadership model while fostering continuous improvement and engineering excellence.

• Technical Architecture & Ownership: Set architectural direction and own the software delivery lifecycle end-to-end—from greenfield ideation through production support and eventual decommissioning.

• Product Partnership: Partner closely with Product Managers to align engineering efforts with product roadmaps, prioritize backlogs, and drive timely execution.

• DevOps & Quality Assurance: Maintain a strong DevOps culture by embedding observability, automated testing, continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD), and infrastructure-as-code across environments.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: Proven background as a hands-on C#/.NET backend developer with experience leading, mentoring, or guiding engineering teams.

• Cloud Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Azure (or major cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP), Kubernetes, and Docker.

• Systems Architecture: Strong mastery of event-driven microservices architecture using messaging technologies (e.g., Azure Service Bus, Kafka, or RabbitMQ).

Core Competencies

• Low-ego leadership style focused on coaching, enabling teams, and driving collaborative product delivery.

• Strong technical leadership capability to set architectural direction for complex financial systems.

• Practical understanding of observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) and automated testing practices.
