About this role
Jhpiego—an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University and global leader in maternal and child healthcare—is recruiting 3 Quality Improvement Assistants for its HARMONY Care project in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State (funded by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). These field-based health professionals will oversee assigned clusters of health facilities and catchment communities, ensuring client referral completions, tracking continuity of care across pregnancy and infancy, monitoring MNCH quality improvement (QI) initiatives, and strengthening community-facility linkages.
Key Responsibilities-
Referral & Continuity of Care Tracking: Track community-to-facility and facility-to-facility referrals; follow up on missed appointments and clients at risk of loss-to-follow-up across the maternal, newborn, and infant continuum of care.

QI Monitoring & Facility Visits: Conduct supportive monitoring across assigned facility clusters; monitor the implementation fidelity of Group Antenatal Care (G-ANC), Group Postnatal Care (G-PNC), Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), and PMH approaches using run charts and action trackers.

Community-Facility Linkages: Coordinate with Ward Development Committees (WDCs), Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs), and local leaders to drive healthcare demand and resolve referral barriers.

Data, Reporting & Action Tracking: Update client-tracking tools, compile activity scorecards, verify data completeness with the MEL team, and contribute to field reports and success stories.

Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree, HND, or recognized professional qualification in Nursing, Midwifery, Community Health, Public Health, Health Education, or related fields. (Clinical or community health background strongly preferred).

Professional Licensure: Active professional registration or license where applicable to the discipline.

Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience in MNCH programming, referral system management, health facility monitoring, or community health initiatives in Nigeria.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with digital data collection tools (e.g., Kobo Toolbox, ODK) is an advantage.

Competencies: Strong interpersonal communication, ability to handle confidential patient data, problem-solving, and willingness to undertake extensive travel within Ebonyi State.
