About this role
The British Council—the UK’s international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities—is recruiting an Intern - Legal Executive Assistant for its office in Lagos State. Working under the direct guidance of the General Counsel & Company Secretary, this early-career legal and executive support role combines contract administration, governance tracking, executive schedule management, data protection compliance, and SharePoint document management.
Key Responsibilities

Legal & Governance Support: Assist with drafting, reviewing, proofreading, and archiving legal contracts, commercial agreements, and corporate governance records.

Executive Administration & Stakeholder Engagement: Manage diary scheduling, meeting logistics, briefing materials, minute-taking, and official correspondence for the General Counsel & Company Secretary.

Compliance, Audit & Risk Management: Track internal/external audit action points; coordinate documentation for data protection, risk management, and equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) policies.

Document Repository Management: Maintain SharePoint sites, digital file registries, and contract repositories for the Legal Unit and Senior Leadership Team.
Requirements & Qualifications

Academic Background: Degree in Law, Legal Studies, Business Administration, or related disciplines (graduated within the last 3 years).

Core Competencies: Discretion with confidential legal data, meticulous attention to detail, time management, and strong written/verbal executive communication skills.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite, SharePoint document management platforms, and digital contract tracking tools.
