About this role
Zipline—the global autonomous drone delivery operator providing instant aerial medical logistics—is recruiting a New Deployments Lead, Nigeria to oversee the infrastructure buildout, aviation regulatory permitting, civil/electrical engineering, and site commissioning for up to 12 distribution hubs across the country.
This senior engineering and program leadership role requires a licensed civil engineer to manage multi-site infrastructure projects concurrently—from greenfield site selection through civil construction, electrical/telecom installation, regulatory clearance, and operational handover.
Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Site Lifecycle Ownership: Lead site selection, civil/electrical/communications construction, safety acceptance, aviation regulatory permitting, and operational handover for up to 12 total distribution sites (up to 6 concurrently).

Engineering & Contractor Oversight: Manage civil contractors, engineering consultants, and site supervisors. Enforce strict acceptance testing for power/telecom uptime, structural foundations, launch mechanisms, and recovery systems.

Aviation & Government Permitting: Engage with Nigerian aviation authorities (NCAA, NAMA) and state-level infrastructure agencies to secure site permits, airspace clearances, and operational approvals.

Team Leadership & Program Governance: Build and manage the Nigeria deployments team, control capital project budgets, maintain risk registers, and track milestone metrics (schedule variance, commissioning pass rates, defect thresholds).
Requirements & Qualifications

Mandatory Licensure: Must be a licensed Civil Engineer.

Work Experience: 8+ years of technical program management, civil construction, or infrastructure delivery experience (with 3+ years in a team leadership capacity).

Technical & Domain Expertise: Direct experience managing civil, electrical, and telecommunications contractors; familiarity with Nigerian regulatory agencies (aviation/infrastructure); mastery of program schedules and milestone tracking.

Field Readiness: Willingness to spend extended periods on active construction sites across Nigeria and operate in fast-paced, high-intensity field environments.
