About this role
Coca-Cola HBC (Nigerian Bottling Company)—the strategic bottling partner of The Coca-Cola Company operating high-speed beverage packaging plants across Nigeria—is recruiting an Automation Engineer to oversee electrical and automated systems in its manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Manager / Engineering Lead, this core industrial engineering role ensures the reliability, PLC programming, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous optimization of high-speed bottling lines and plant utilities.
Key Responsibilities

Automation & Electrical Maintenance: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and execute repairs on high-speed bottling lines, inspection/coding machines, blowing/filling units, and utility infrastructure.

PLC Programming & Program Backups: Maintain up-to-date program backups for all PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs; update panel schematics and electrical documentation.

Condition Monitoring & Root Cause Analysis: Deploy condition-based monitoring tools, conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for equipment breakdowns, and implement Corrective Action Plans (CAPs).

Project Support & Commissioning: Support engineering expansion projects, line automation upgrades, new equipment commissioning, and supplier contract oversight.

Budgeting & Spare Parts Management: Monitor automation spare parts inventory (reorder levels), oversee specialized maintenance vendor contracts, and manage the departmental maintenance budget.

Educational Background: B.Sc. or HND in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related technical disciplines.

Automation Stack Proficiency: Advanced skills in PLC programming (Siemens, Omron), Danfoss drive setup, industrial network communication protocols, instrumentation, and sensors.

FMCG Ecosystem Track Record: 5+ years of operational maintenance experience in beverage bottling, packaging plants, or high-volume industrial manufacturing.

Analytical & Operational Skills: Proficiency in SAP maintenance workflows, budget planning, technical training for junior technicians, and strict Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policy enforcement.
