Accountant

People First Consultancy is recruiting an Accountant on behalf of a leading renewable energy (solar) product distribution firm for its regional hub in Kano State. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this operational accounting role manages financial record-keeping, inventory/cost accounting for solar hardware (panels, inverters, batteries), sales reconciliation, accounts receivable/payable, and daily cash flow management at the distribution facility near the Kaura Macaroni Factory in Hadejia-Kano.

• Financial Record-Keeping & Bookkeeping: Record daily sales transactions, procurement expenses, inventory receipts, and general ledger entries with speed and accuracy.

• Receivables & Payables Management: Monitor dealer/distributor credit accounts, enforce payment collections, manage vendor payables, and maintain updated accounts payable/receivable sub-ledgers.

• Account Reconciliation & Cash Flow Control: Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations, monitor cash receipts and disbursements, reconcile physical solar stock counts with book values, and manage petty cash.

• Reporting & Cost Accounting: Assist in preparing monthly trial balances, profit/loss statements, product cost analyses, and variance reports for distribution management.

• Academic Credentials: Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc.) in Accounting, Finance, or a related financial field.

• Experience Profile: 2–3 years in general accounting, corporate bookkeeping, or inventory accounting (experience in trading, FMCG, or renewable energy distribution is an advantage).

• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems), advanced MS Excel, and inventory/cost accounting principles.

• Core Competencies: Financial reporting, numerical accuracy, strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to meet strict monthly closing deadlines under pressure.
