Job Title: Accounts Officer
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Employment Type: Contract (3 Months)

JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Accounts Officer to support the Finance & Accounts department by processing daily accounting transactions, maintaining accurate financial records using Sage Accounting Software, supporting bank reconciliations, statutory tax compliance, financial reporting, and internal and external audits.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Record daily financial transactions in Sage and maintain the general ledger, journals, accruals, prepayments, and supporting documentation.
- Process supplier invoices, verify approvals, prepare payment schedules, reconcile statements, and monitor outstanding payables.
- Prepare customer invoices, monitor collections, follow up on overdue balances, and maintain receivables ageing schedules.
- Post daily cash and bank transactions and perform monthly bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Assist with monthly management accounts, trial balance, Income Statement, Statement of Financial Position, Cash Flow, and budget variance reports.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Support preparation and filing of PAYE, VAT, WHT, Pension, NSITF, ITF, and NHF schedules where applicable.
- Ensure statutory remittances are accurately computed, processed on time, and properly documented.
- Prepare audit schedules, respond to audit queries, support auditors, and assist with implementation of audit recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, proper transaction authorization, confidentiality, and internal controls.
- Maintain accurate electronic and physical financial records and support regulatory inspections and management reviews.
- Recommend improvements to accounting processes, documentation, SOPs, and finance systems.
- Perform other finance-related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- ACA, ACCA, or ICAN (Part Qualified) is an added advantage.
- 2–4 years' relevant experience.
- Experience using Sage Accounting Software.
- Experience supporting financial reporting, tax compliance, and audits.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting, general ledger, AP/AR, bank reconciliation, tax compliance, and internal controls.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with Management and stakeholders.
- High integrity, attention to detail, analytical thinking, accountability, confidentiality, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong planning, organization, teamwork, initiative, and reliability.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Net Salary: #450,000 - #550,000
