LEGAL & ADVISORY LEAD
6-Month Commission-Based Engagement | Potential Long-Term Appointment
Africa has never lacked resources—it has lacked the systems, institutions, and connections to unlock their full value.
Africa Metals & Minerals Company (AMMC) is building the commercial infrastructure that connects African supply to African industries and international markets through technology, logistics, trusted networks, and integrated resource solutions.
We are looking for a Legal & Advisory Lead to support AMMC as we build and scale across Africa and international markets.
This role is suited to either an ambitious, high-potential lawyer building a strong career or an established legal professional with significant experience and a strong network.
We are less interested in titles and more interested in judgment, ambition, commercial understanding, and the ability to get things done.
The Role
You will support AMMC across:
- Commercial and corporate legal matters.
- Drafting and reviewing contracts and agreements.
- International trade and cross-border transactions.
- Mining, minerals, recycling, logistics, procurement, and commercial operations.
- Regulatory and compliance matters.
- Corporate governance and risk management.
- Negotiations with suppliers, buyers, partners, investors, and other stakeholders.
- Legal research and practical advice to management.
- Working with external counsel where specialist legal support is required.
- Helping AMMC develop practical legal frameworks as the business grows.
Who We’re Looking For
You should be:
- A qualified lawyer with a valid right to practise.
- Commercially minded and able to understand business beyond the legal documents.
- A strong communicator and negotiator.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment.
- Curious about Africa, international business, commodities, trade, mining, and emerging markets.
- Someone who takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do.
For an established lawyer, we value:
- Significant commercial or corporate legal experience.
- Strong relationships across Nigeria, Africa, or international markets.
- Experience with complex transactions, international trade, finance, mining, energy, or commercial advisory.
- The ability to provide senior-level judgment and strategic counsel.
For a younger lawyer, we value:
- Exceptional ambition and intellectual curiosity.
- Strong academic and professional foundations.
- A willingness to learn quickly and take significant responsibility.
- The ability to research, analyse, negotiate, and solve problems independently.
- A genuine desire to build something meaningful in Africa.
Additional qualifications such as LL.M, MBA, CIArb, Chartered Governance, CAMS, or relevant international trade/commercial certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
Engagement
The initial engagement is commission-based for six months, with the opportunity to develop into a longer-term role based on performance, contribution, and fit.
The structure is particularly suited to someone who wants to build alongside AMMC rather than simply occupy a conventional legal position.
