Based on-site at the corporate headquarters in Lagos, this core software engineering position is embedded within vital business units—such as Core Banking, Loans, Tech Platform, or Cards—to scale high-performance backend infrastructure.
The Java Developer will architect, build, and maintain mission-critical backend microservices that power millions of financial transactions. Combining robust Java/Spring Boot development, Kafka-driven event architectures, AWS cloud deployments, and advanced system observability tools, this role focuses on software craftsmanship, clean architecture, and reliable distributed system design.
Key Responsibilities-
Backend Engineering: Design, build, test, and deploy resilient, highly scalable backend applications utilizing Java and the Spring Boot framework.
-
Microservices Development: Create and optimize production-ready RESTful APIs and decoupled microservices architectures to process high-throughput transaction pipelines.
-
Event-Driven Architecture: Implement distributed streaming, data pipelines, and real-time messaging workflows using Apache Kafka.
-
Cloud & Infrastructure Alignment: Deploy and maintain containerized distributed systems within cloud-native environments, specifically leveraging AWS and Amazon EKS.
-
Database & Caching Management: Structure scalable database schemas within MySQL relational engines and optimize system latency using Redis caching.
-
Observability & Maintenance: Monitor system health, debug complex performance bottlenecks, and configure active tracing using Grafana and Prometheus ecosystems.
-
Collaborative Governance: Participate in rigorous technical design reviews, cross-team alignment sessions, and automated unit/integration testing frameworks.
-
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related quantitative engineering discipline.
-
Experience Baseline: Proven professional track record building, shipping, and maintaining distributed backend systems in production environments using Java.
-
