About this role
Moniepoint Incorporated, Africa’s fastest-growing fintech providing business payments and banking solutions to over 10 million accounts, is recruiting a Data Privacy & Protection Director. Based in Lagos, Nigeria, and reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, this executive role oversees Moniepoint's overarching data privacy governance, ensures regulatory compliance with the Nigerian Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, and leads data breach management and privacy strategy.
Key Responsibilities-
Data Governance & Policy: Design, deploy, and refine Moniepoint's data privacy governance framework (including Binding Corporate Rules) to ensure strict compliance with the NDPA 2023 and global privacy standards.

Regulatory Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact with the Nigeria Data Privacy Commission (NDPC), financial regulators, and Data Privacy Compliance Organizations (DPCOs).

Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs): Lead DPIAs across product engineering, IT, and operational teams prior to launching new features, platforms, or tools.

Data Security & Incident Response: Collaborate with Information Security and IT teams to oversee data processing inventories, data retention policies, and automated data breach response protocols.

Audits & Training Strategy: Coordinate internal and external privacy audits; build and deliver targeted data protection training for staff, third-party processors (TPPs), and vendors.

Bachelor's Degree: Required in Law, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.

Advanced Degree: Master’s degree in Law or Information Security is highly preferred.

Years of Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on leadership experience in data protection, regulatory compliance, or privacy program management.

Regulatory Expertise: Operational mastery of the Nigerian Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 and financial sector data compliance standards.

Proven Track Record: Demonstrated experience executing DPIAs, handling data breach response workflows, and leading external DPCO privacy audits.

Meticulous analytical skills to assess technical data flows and processing pipelines.
