Data Analyst (Intern)

Local Buka, an innovative, fast-growing food-tech platform transforming food discovery in Africa, is recruiting a Data Analyst (Intern). Local Buka connects food lovers with affordable, authentic local dining options based on their budget and preferences, while simultaneously driving visibility, user acquisition, and consumer-to-vendor marketplace insights for small food businesses.

As a Data Analyst Intern, you will join the brand's business operations and product analytics team in Lagos. This role is highly hands-on and focus-driven, utilizing data modeling to unlock user behavioral patterns, analyze vendor performance metrics, and optimize app discovery parameters. It offers an exceptional training ground and corporate launchpad for entry-level data specialists looking to gain professional experience within a high-growth tech startup.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Extraction & Structuring: Assist in mining internal application and marketplace data, organizing raw records into clean datasets for analysis.

• Dashboard Architecture: Help design and maintain automated operational dashboards to track daily, weekly, and monthly growth metrics (e.g., active app users, vendor onboarding rates, consumer search conversions).

• Consumer Insight Reporting: Analyze user preferences, price elasticity parameters, and behavioral search journeys to suggest improvements for product personalization.

• Vendor Operations Auditing: Evaluate vendor performance data, order completion rates, and delivery logistics to identify supply chain bottlenecks.

• Collaborative Support: Work directly alongside product engineers and digital marketing teams to interpret data from user acquisition campaigns and running A/B tests.

Requirements

• Education & Qualification: Open to current undergraduates, fresh graduates, or OND/HND holders in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, or any related quantitative discipline.

• Technical Software Skills: Foundational proficiency or personal training in data analytics tools. Practical familiarity with Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables) is required. Familiarity with SQL, Python/R, or data visualization software (Power BI, Tableau) is a major advantage.

• Analytical Mindset: Excellent critical-thinking skills, high comfort tracking patterns within vast sets of numbers, and an eye for structural anomalies.

• Core Attributes: Highly organized, a quick learner, strong reporting habits, and a high willingness to collaborate within a fast-paced environment.
