About this role
Tonia Pharmacy Limited, incorporated in 2003 and recognized as one of the premier pharmaceutical brands in Nigeria with multiple branches across the Federal Capital Territory, is recruiting an experienced and highly analytical Accountant. Based in Abuja, this full-time officer will lead the pharmacy's finance department, oversee retail/wholesale inventory valuation, coordinate statutory tax compliance, manage multi-branch cash flows, and maintain internal control systems.
Key Responsibilities-
Financial Management & Reporting: Record daily transactions, reconcile multi-branch cash deposits and POS reports, manage bank accounts, and prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Inventory Control & Reconciliations: Work closely with Inventory Officers to reconcile physical stock values, investigate store variances, participate in stock counts, and generate accurate inventory valuation reports.

Payroll & Statutory Compliance: Prepare monthly payroll. Process and remit statutory deductions, including PAYE, Pension, NHF, NSITF, and ITF. Liaise directly with FIRS and State Internal Revenue services for VAT, WHT, and Company Income Tax.

Accounts Payable & Receivable: Monitor supplier accounts, reconcile vendor statements, manage customer receivables, and compile debtor aging analysis reports.

Internal Audit & Controls: Enforce company financial policies, audit transactions to detect financial irregularities, and prepare documentation to facilitate internal and external audits.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc. or HND) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.

Professional Certification: ICAN, ACCA, ACA, or ANAN qualification is an added advantage.

Experience:

3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience.

Prior experience within the pharmaceutical, retail, wholesale, or healthcare sector is highly preferred.

Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and modern accounting applications (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or customized ERP systems). Strong command of Nigerian tax laws and statutory financial regulations.

Core Competencies: High level of integrity and confidentiality, exceptional attention to detail, strong time-management skills, and the capacity to work productively during critical month-end reporting or audit periods.
