Media Trust Limited—owners of Daily Trust Newspaper, Trust TV, Trust Radio, and digital titles—is recruiting a Senior Digital Journalist. Based in Abuja, this editorial leadership role involves driving digital-first strategies, coordinating breaking news coverage, managing homepage priorities, supervising social media channels, and applying audience analytics to grow engagement.
Key Responsibilities-
Editorial Leadership: Coordinate day-to-day digital news operations; commission, edit, and publish breaking news, live coverage, and enterprise reports in collaboration with the Radar & Echo Editor.

Website & Homepage Management: Oversee publishing across group websites, curate homepage priorities, and ensure stories are posted quickly with optimal digital formatting.

Social Media Operations: Supervise editorial distribution across official platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, YouTube) and direct platform-tailored content strategies.

Audience Analytics & SEO: Utilize analytics tools (Google Analytics, Chartbeat) and implement SEO best practices to grow traffic, retain readers, and uncover content trends.

Newsroom Coordination & Innovation: Supervise and mentor digital journalists; foster cross-functional newsroom workflows across print, TV, radio, and digital; drive adoption of multimedia storytelling formats and AI productivity tools.

Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Communication Studies, or a related field.

Years of Experience: Minimum of 7 years in digital journalism, online news editing, or newsroom leadership.

Proven Track Record: Experience managing real-time online publishing and supervising editorial teams in a fast-paced environment.

Outstanding news judgment and headline writing skills.

Solid understanding of SEO, Content Management Systems (CMS), and digital analytics tools (Google Analytics, Chartbeat).

Strong knowledge of social media publishing and audience growth strategies.

High editorial standards, ethical integrity, and ability to thrive under tight deadlines.

Experience in converged newsrooms, live blogging, multimedia production, and using AI tools for editorial workflows.
