About this role
Green Habitat Initiative (GHI) is recruiting a Program Development and Grants Officer to lead its resource mobilization, donor mapping, grant prospecting, and proposal development efforts in Abuja (FCT).
This contract position is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, coordinating high-quality proposal submissions, and securing institutional, bilateral, multilateral, and philanthropic grants to expand GHI’s environmental and climate-resilience programs across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities-
Resource Mobilization & Fundraising: Build and manage a comprehensive pipeline of grants, tenders, and partnerships; conduct donor mapping across climate finance, WASH, renewable energy, and sustainable development sectors.

Proposal Development & Acquisition: Lead the writing, editing, and submission of concept notes, Expressions of Interest (EOIs), proposal narratives, logframes, work plans, and budgets for donor calls.

Donor Intelligence & Networking: Track funding landscape trends (e.g., USAID, EU, UN, GIZ, FCDO, corporate foundations) and represent GHI at donor meetings and networking engagements.

Grant Compliance & Management: Support post-award compliance, grant start-up/close-out processes, and ensure timely submission of donor reports.

Education: Master’s Degree in Development Studies, International Development, Public Policy, Environmental Management, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

Experience: 3–5 years of demonstrated experience in fundraising, proposal development, grant acquisition, or business development within an NGO, INGO, development consultancy, or private sector.

Proven Track Record: Proven history of writing or directly contributing to winning grant proposals from institutional/international donors.

Preferred: Professional certifications (Proposal Writing, PMP, Grant Management) and thematic knowledge in climate change, WASH, renewable energy, or sustainable cities.
