About this role
BIC Nigeria—the global FMCG leader in stationery, pocket lighters, and personal care shavers—is recruiting an Associate Manager, Shavers & Lighters, Trade Marketing for its operations in Lagos State. This full-time managerial role is responsible for driving the growth of BIC’s Blade Excellence (Shavers) and Flame for Life (Lighters) product portfolios across Nigeria. The position translates global/regional brand strategies into high-impact local trade plans across traditional trade (wholesalers, sub-distributors), modern trade, and bookstore channels, while building distributor capabilities and driving in-store execution excellence.
Key Responsibilities-
Trade Strategy & Route-to-Market Execution: Develop and implement annual trade marketing plans tailored for Nigeria's traditional and modern trade channels to accelerate numeric and weighted distribution, brand visibility, and consumer penetration.

Distributor Engagement & Capability Building: Act as the primary marketing contact for distributor partners; align on commercial priorities, manage point-of-sale materials (POSM), and train distributor sales teams on merchandising best practices.

In-Store Execution & Visibility: Establish and enforce channel merchandising guidelines; coordinate promotional activations, monitor execution quality at point-of-sale (POS), and optimize shopper conversion.

Trade Spend & Budget Management: Manage trade marketing budgets, evaluate campaign ROI, monitor competitive pricing/value chains, and track sales performance against rolling forecasts.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Insights: Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams; analyze retail audit data (e.g., Nielsen) and conduct regular market walks to capture competitor intelligence and shelf pricing.

Education: University Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of trade marketing experience within an FMCG company. Prior experience operating in distributor-led markets or multi-market environments is a strong advantage.

Technical & Commercial Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel and PowerPoint), familiarity with Revenue Growth Management (RGM) principles, and experience managing POSM/activation vendors.

Language & Communication: Fluent in written and spoken English with exceptional cross-functional negotiation skills.
