About this role
iRecharge Tech-Innovations Limited—a software and digital payment technologies firm operating across Africa—is recruiting a Backend Engineer for its office in Victoria Island, Lagos State. This software engineering position focuses on architecture design, core payment engine integration, database optimization, and high-volume RESTful API development powering digital banking and transaction processing platforms.
Key Responsibilities

API & System Architecture: Architect, build, and maintain high-performance backend systems, RESTful APIs, and scalable microservices.

FinTech Integration: Develop, scale, and support transaction-processing solutions, third-party payment gateway integrations, and digital banking services.

Database Management: Structure and optimize relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) for high query throughput, data integrity, and vault security.

Maintenance & Testing: Conduct unit testing, system optimization, code reviews, and maintain comprehensive API documentation.

Core Stack Proficiency: Strong hands-on development experience in Java, Python, Node.js, or Go.

Domain Expertise: 3–5 years building transaction-heavy systems, payment processing infrastructure, or API-first FinTech products.

Database Skills: Advanced knowledge of relational database schemas, SQL query tuning, and index optimization (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
