About this role
Dangote Group—one of Africa's largest industrial conglomerates—is recruiting a Deputy General Manager, Quality Assurance & Control for its integrated cement manufacturing facility at the Ibese Plant in Ogun State. Reporting to the Plant Director, this executive technical leadership role defines and enforces the overarching Quality Management System (QMS) across all stages of raw material extraction, clinker burning, grinding, laboratory operations, and final product dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Quality Governance: Establish, monitor, and enforce ISO 9001-compliant Quality Management Systems; prepare annual quality control plans; report quality performance metrics and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) directly to executive leadership.
- aboratory & Process Control Oversight: Direct plant central laboratory operations; oversee chemical and physical testing of raw materials, clinker, oil, gas, and water; manage equipment calibration schedules and root-cause analysis for non-conformance issues.
- Regulatory Compliance & Audits: Oversee internal/external quality audits, manage Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) tracking, and ensure full compliance with national and international cement standards.
- Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean/Six Sigma initiatives to eliminate process waste; handle high-level customer quality complaints; collaborate with Procurement on raw material quality assurance.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Academic Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related physical science. A relevant Postgraduate Degree or Master's is highly preferred.
- Professional Certifications: Certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt are strongly desired.
- Work Experience: 15+ years of progressive QA/QC experience in cement or heavy continuous-process manufacturing, with a track record of directing large technical teams.
- Technical & Core Competencies: Comprehensive mastery of cement chemistry, mineral processing, analytical laboratory instrumentation, root-cause analysis (RCA), and ISO audit frameworks.
