About this role
Basic Foundation International School (BFIS)—a co-educational K–12 private institution—is recruiting a Senior Accountant / Finance Officer for its financial and administrative operations in Aba, Abia State. Reporting directly to the School Administrator and Board of Governors, this financial leadership role oversees tuition fee reconciliation, general ledger accounting, payroll processing, budget forecasting, internal audit controls, and statutory tax compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Institutional Financial Operations & Ledger Management: Oversee daily bookkeeping, general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable, tuition billing, bank reconciliations, and payroll processing.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow Control: Formulate annual operating budgets, monitor departmental spending, execute cash flow forecasting, and prepare balance sheets, cash flow statements, and income reports.

Internal Audit & Regulatory Compliance: Enforce robust internal controls, manage statutory tax remittances (PAYE, Pension, WHT), liaise with external auditors, and ensure compliance with Nigerian accounting standards.

Accounting Software Administration: Utilize financial accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero) alongside specialized school management software for tuition tracking and student billing.

Academic & Professional Credentials: B.Sc./HND in Accounting or Finance; full ICAN/ACCA/ANAN professional certification expected for senior placement.

Software Toolstack: Mastery of QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, advanced MS Excel (financial modeling, pivot tables), and integrated school database software.

Core Competencies: Financial reporting, internal audit mechanisms, cash flow management, analytical reasoning, confidentiality, and stakeholder reporting.
