Finance Manager

Proten International—an international human capital development and HR consulting firm—is recruiting a Finance Manager on behalf of a client in Ikeja, Lagos State. This senior leadership role is designed for a self-starter tasked with building out the client's Finance & Accounts unit from the ground up, cleaning historical financial records, setting up internal controls, ensuring statutory tax compliance, and serving as the primary liaison with external auditors and consultants.

• Departmental Setup & Strategy: Define the structure, workflows, and reporting cadence for the Finance & Accounts unit; build internal controls, policies, and procedures from scratch.

• Accounting Operations & Clean-Up: Oversee day-to-day GL management, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end close; lead a comprehensive reconciliation and clean-up of historical financial records for audit readiness.

• Financial Reporting & Governance: Prepare management accounts, board packs, budgets, and cash flow forecasts; manage payroll processing and statutory remittances.

• Taxation & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Nigerian tax regulations (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE, transfer pricing) and serve as the main contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel.

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.

• Certifications: Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) is required.

• Experience: 6 to 8 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Demonstrated experience establishing or restructuring a finance department from scratch is essential.

• Technical Proficiency: Advanced MS Excel skills, hands-on proficiency with ERP/accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero), and strong mastery of IFRS and Nigerian tax laws.
