About this role
SIL Chemicals is recruiting a certified Forklift Operator for its warehouse facility along the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, Isolo, Lagos State. Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor or Assistant Warehouse Manager, this key operational role is responsible for safely loading, unloading, stacking, and transporting raw materials—including polymers, flammable solvents, food-grade inputs, cosmetic raw materials, pharmaceutical ingredients, and specialty chemicals.
Key Responsibilities-
Equipment Operation & Material Movement: Safely operate counterbalance and reach trucks to load/unload shipping containers, trucks, and delivery vehicles without damaging products.

Chemical Safety & Product Integrity: Transport and stack pallets according to hazard classification and compatibility rules; adhere to strict hygienic protocols when handling food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical inputs.

Pre-Operation Checks & Maintenance: Perform routine daily inspections of forklifts, document equipment conditions, and report mechanical faults or safety concerns immediately.

Inventory & Staging Support: Verify product labels, quantities, and batch numbers before moving goods; support receiving, picking, staging, cycle counting, and inventory documentation.

HSSE & Facility Hygiene: Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, maintain clean loading bays and aisles, and immediately report spills, damaged stock, or safety near-misses.

Education: Minimum of Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE), National Diploma (ND), or equivalent.

Certification: Valid forklift operator certification or license recognized by regulatory authorities is required.

Experience: Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or chemical plant environment.

Industry Preference: Prior experience handling industrial chemicals, solvents, pharmaceutical raw materials, or food ingredients is an added advantage.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating counterbalance, reach truck, or related material handling equipment.

Safety & Handling: Understanding of safe stacking limits, load securing, hazard symbols, and chemical safety practices.

Physical Capability & Detail: Strong physical fitness for manual handling, high reliability, spatial awareness, and ability to read batch documentation.
