About this role
Vitafoam Plc—Nigeria's leading manufacturer of flexible polyurethane foam, bedding, and home furnishings—is recruiting a Mechanical Technician for its production operations in Lagos State. This full-time technical role focuses on routine preventive maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, repair of industrial manufacturing machinery, and ensuring optimal uptime across production lines while adhering to strict industrial safety standards.
Key Responsibilities-
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Perform scheduled servicing, inspections, and repairs on foam production equipment, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, power transmission components, and heavy machinery.

Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose mechanical faults and breakdowns promptly, conduct root cause analysis, and execute durable repairs to minimize operational downtime.

Plant Operational Support: Collaborate with production engineers and plant operators to maintain continuous output and improve overall machine efficiency (OEE).

Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Enforce environmental, health, and safety (HSE) guidelines, wear mandated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and ensure machine guards and safety interlocks function properly.

Education: Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline (Note: Candidates holding HND or B.Sc./B.Eng. degrees are excluded based on the post criteria).

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of practical hands-on experience as a mechanical technician in an industrial manufacturing plant (experience in foam manufacturing or chemical processing is highly preferred).

Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of industrial plant machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, pumps, power transmission systems, and technical maintenance reporting.
