About this role
Permanent Capital Ventures—a Lagos-based venture studio that builds, launches, and scales tech startups with pre-developed technology and infrastructure—is recruiting a Corporate Commercial / Litigation Lawyer for its office in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State. This full-time legal role requires a Call-to-Bar practitioner with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to manage corporate advisory, venture structuring, transaction documentation, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and commercial dispute resolution.
Key Responsibilities-
Corporate Advisory & Structuring: Advise on company incorporations, corporate restructurings, venture investments, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance frameworks.

Commercial Contracting & Due Diligence: Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts (shareholder agreements, service contracts, financing terms, IP licenses); conduct legal due diligence and issue legal opinions.

Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Represent the company/clients in litigation, arbitration, and mediation proceedings; draft court pleadings, briefs, and witness statements; manage case strategies before Nigerian courts and tribunals.

Regulatory Compliance & Secretarial Support: Oversee statutory compliance with regulatory bodies (such as the CAC, SEC, NITDA, etc.) and handle corporate secretarial functions.

Business Development & Mentorship: Identify strategic growth opportunities, maintain client/stakeholder relationships, publish legal thought leadership, and mentor junior legal associates or interns.

Education & Professional Status: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B), Call to the Nigerian Bar (B.L), active Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) membership, and a valid practicing license.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience (PQE) in corporate commercial practice, transactional law, or dispute resolution.

Core Competencies: Legal drafting, advocacy, trial preparation, negotiation, regulatory navigation, commercial acumen, and legal research.

Attributes: Proactive problem solver, high ethical standards, detail-oriented, and capable of handling high-stakes transaction pipelines in a fast-paced tech startup environment.
