About this role
African Industries Group (AIG)—a major manufacturing conglomerate operating steel plants and industrial facilities across Nigeria—is recruiting a Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) – Metallurgical for its steel manufacturing operations in Ikorodu, Lagos State. This entry-level engineering role provides structured industrial exposure, technical development, and hands-on operational training across steelmaking, furnace operations, metallurgy quality control, and metal processing facilities.
Key Responsibilities-
Plant Operations & Traineeship: Undergo hands-on rotation across steel melting shops, rolling mills, quality assurance laboratories, and furnace monitoring units.

Quality Control & Material Testing: Assist senior metallurgists in testing chemical compositions, mechanical properties, microstructural analysis, and metal grading during production runs.

Process Optimization & Safety: Learn and enforce safety protocols, assist in reducing melt shop process waste, and monitor thermal/metallurgical standards during casting and rolling operations.

Academic Discipline: B.Sc. or B.Eng. in Metallurgical Engineering / Metallurgical Science (Mandatory requirement).

Experience Level: 0 – 1 year post-graduation/NYSC experience.

Personal Attributes: Strong analytical foundation, eager to learn heavy industrial processes, willingness to work in plant floor environments, and proximity to Ikorodu.
