About this role
Quest Merchant Bank is recruiting a Tax Lead to join its finance and treasury leadership team.
This key leadership position is designed for an experienced tax practitioner responsible for overseeing the bank's tax strategy, managing corporate tax compliance across merchant banking operations, optimizing tax structures, and serving as the primary liaison with tax regulatory authorities (such as the FIRS and State Internal Revenue Services).
Core Responsibilities-
Tax Strategy & Advisory: Formulate and execute corporate tax strategies that align with merchant banking transactions, capital market activities, and group structure.

Statutory Compliance & Filings: Oversee accurate computation and timely remittance of all statutory taxes, including Company Income Tax (CIT), Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax (WHT), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), PAYE, and Transfer Pricing filings.

Regulatory & Audit Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for external tax auditors, regulatory authorities (FIRS, SIRS), and tax consultants during routine audits or inquiries.

Risk & Advisory Services: Evaluate tax risks across investment products, corporate loans, and structured finance, ensuring full compliance with Nigerian tax laws and Financial Reporting Council (FRC) guidelines.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law, or a related discipline.

Professional Certifications: Mandatory professional certification such as CITN (Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria), ICAN, or ACCA.

Experience: Proven track record in corporate taxation, tax planning, and audit management—preferably within a merchant bank, commercial bank, asset management firm, or Big 4 accounting/tax consulting firm.

Key Skills: Deep expertise in Nigerian tax legislation, transfer pricing, financial sector statutory returns, and strategic tax risk management.
